Rajarhat Upazila

Rajarhat upazila under Kurigram district. This neglected Rajarhat was just a union. The government of Pakistan had set up a police outpost here due to the need for police administration. It was also removed in the movement of the seventies. Considering the needs of the people of the area, Rajarhat Thana was formed consisting of four unions of the then Ulipur Thana and three unions of Lalmonirhat Thana. Despite widespread disagreement over why Rajarhat was named Rajarhat, no one has been able to find the exact reason. Many say that the reign of the Sen dynasty began in Rangpur in the early 12th century. The kings of that dynasty were Nil Dhabaj, Chandra Dhabaj and Nilambar. The last king was very powerful. He won many battles. Its capital is Chatala. This Chatla is presently located in Vidyananda Union of Rajarhat Upazila. Here was the fort of Nilambar. In 1416, Sultan Husain Shah of Gaur invaded the kingdom of Nilambar. There was a fierce battle on both sides of the river. In this battle King Nilambar was defeated and fled to Assam. The capital of Nilambar was destroyed. Nasiruddin Abul Mozaffar Nasrat Shah, son of Sultan Hussain Shah, fought against Nilambar. The locals have named the area Rajarhat to commemorate the king. Again, according to many, there was no place in Rajarhatball at that time. Lentagari with a bumpy locomotive moving slowly along the British-era railway line. The place where the car stopped was called Payamari. There were a couple of shops next to this pyamari. Devendra Narayan, the last king of the Panga dynasty, used to come occasionally to exchange greetings with the people of Kongut Mekutari mouza. Gradually the shops grew there and as a result the market was set up on the khas land of the Panga king. The place has been named Rajarhat because of Pengu king Hetuhat.
