Fulbari upazila of Kurigram district in the northern part of Bangladesh. A- Upazila has history, tradition, has its own uniqueness and characteristics. Phulbari is a border upazila surrounded by Dharla river. Fulbari Upazila At one time Maharaja Shri Jagadvipendra Narayan of Kochbihar was a part of Chakla in the eastern part of Bhup Bahadur. On his way to visit the eastern part of Chakla in 1320 BS (1913 AD), the Maharaja was fascinated by the brass forest and brass flowers on both sides of the river Dharla and named it Phulbari.
According to another source, the entire eastern pargana or chakla on the east bank of the Dharla river was surrounded by flowers. There were innumerable flowers in the forest, in the bushes, in the yard on both sides of the road. The sweet smell of innumerable wild flowers filled my heart. The river Nilkumar used to flow through the Furbari police station and there were innumerable flower arrangements on both sides of the river. There was also a huge flower garden in front of the kashari house of the Phulbari zamindar, there was a collection of different flowers. Phulbari is named after this flower-loving and flower-loving police station.
The Eastern Parganas were one of the six Parganas or Chaklas under the Koch State. Phulbari is one of the thanas of Kurigram district. Due to the location of this pargana on the other side of the river Dharla, the Mughal generals tried many times to capture this eastern pargana but failed. The eastern part was finally conquered by the Mughals in 1611. But in the tax payment agreement, Koch Raja kept Purbabhag Pargana in his possession.
